Studio and Meeting:
So, due to the fact that my normal Studio session is on Friday, we had to change it this week due to the fact the its Good Friday. So, we went to a studio session a few hours before our lecture on the Thursday. The session was only really used so that Glen could understand what our aim with the artefact is.
Unfortunately, I had to leave early due to another workshop but I was filled in during the meeting after my other workshop. Harley thought about having a mixture of oil and water in a container and showing as to how the bubbles occur due to the different densities of the two liquids.
Lecture:
The main point of the lecture was to show as to how important prototyping is for designing. Unfortunately I had to leave that early as well due to other commitments, but I was getting taught prototyping in another one of my subjects so I knew most of the stuff already.

Week 4 - Issacc and Marina
So, after the fourth week of uni, Issacc has told us that he is not continuing in the uni course. Marina, on the other hand, hasn't contacted any of us since the first studio lesson and we believe that we are now down to just Harley, Ramsey and myself.

Week 4 - Meeting and Lecture
As a team, we organised that our team meetings will be held an hour before our Lecture on Thursdays. Our first team meeting went alright. We had made an original design and decided that it could certainly work within the gardens.
The design was a figure of 8 representing continuous motion. Under the path there was a river following the path and there were some glass planes in the path to view the water (3). In the centre there was a bridge with trees on either side of it (1). There design also included 2 palm trees in the center of the loops (2) and the four corners were to represent the four seasons (4).
We were feeling very confident until we went to the lecture when the lecturer said that the artefact had to be temporary and couldn't use anything manufactured. So, we are heading back to the drawing board.

Week 3 - Studio (Issacc and the pig)
Honestly, even though it was my first Studio lesson, there wasn't really that much that happened.
Straight away we were organised into groups. I ended up with Ramsey, Harley, Marina and Issacc. All of the people seem really nice and I am very pleased with my group.
Glen, our workshop facilitator, told us to get ready to draw something. Issacc decided to not wait and decided to draw a pig. Once he completed the pig and Glen had a little speech about the drawing, Glen said to draw a pig. Everyone at our table was so shocked that Issacc actually drew a pig before he was told to draw it.
After everyone had drawn a pig, Glen went on to describe that the way in which we drew the pig tells alot about the person.

Week 3 - Lecture
Well, another lecture has passed, and so another time it is for me to update my blog.
Well, I have to answer some questions and talk about some topic which were discussed.
Who is Dino Dini?
Dino is a computer game devoloper who has become famous for his work with soccer games in the 90's.

What is the Waterfall Method?
The waterfall method is a design method in which people go from one section of designing objects. It is not commonly used, however, as most of the time design goes back and forth between the sections.

Our lecturer also showed us that things aren't always as the appear.
Take this chair for example. From the front it looks like multiple chairs, however from the back it shows that it's only 1 chair.

Week 2 - Lecture
Firstly, I must apologise. I know that I said that I would upload twice a week, but I'm not sure how well that will end up being.
Anyways, the second lecture last week went smoothly. Now I understand what is required to type in my journal.
First things first: What is design?
A narrow definition of design is deciding upon the look and functioning of an object, usually by making detailed drawings of it. It can be expanded to show that designing is basically why objects are in the shape that they are in.
Who designed the iPhone and the macbook?
Jonathan Ive recieved an award for his work for the design of the iPhone. As he was the Head-Designer for Apple, he also designed the macbook.
Why is the iPod so successful?
Mainly because it was the first portable device, which played music and didn't act as a phone. It is still so successful now because it's sets the benchmark for mobile devices.
Who is the lead designer for your favourite game?
Well, my favourite game is Formula 1 Challenge (2003) and the lead designer for that game was Joseph Campana.
As all teachers and lecturers say: "Students don't like to work in teams. So, next week you will be working in teams. Not just because we like to cause you pain..."

"That'll take you hours and hours and hours, or about half a minute if you use Google."

Week 1 - Lecture
So, this will be my blog which I am required to update for one of my uni subjects. I will hopefully update every Thursday, after the lecture, and Friday, after the Studio class.
Anyways, the first lecture was interesting and there were two pictures in which I would like to comment on.

Anyways, the first lecture was interesting and there were two pictures in which I would like to comment on.
1.
The artist of this drawing, B Kliban, shows some creative tricks you can use with water. Although if you try this you will most likely fail, it still shows that with your imagination, it anything is possible to create.
2.
Dear Esther is a video game which follows a "narrator" as he pieces together letters about his past, and the past of others. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what I'm meant to comment on so I'll probably talk about this later on in the year.
